Cap the RAM

The subsystem reserves memory at boot. On 8 GB machines, limit it so Chrome and WSA don't fight. WSA Installer's config lets you tune the allocation per machine.

Don't Leave It Running Idle

  • Stop WSA when you're done (Settings → Stop)
  • WSABackgroundService keeps ADB/file shares alive — fine, but it uses RAM
  • Disable 'continuous mode' if apps keep closing on launch
If Android apps close a few seconds after opening, you likely have 'continuous mode' misconfigured. Toggle it off in Android Settings.

Battery

On laptops, WSA's VM draws steady power. For max battery, stop the subsystem before unplugging. The translation layer (libhoudini) also costs CPU, so prefer native-architecture APKs.
