What Actually Changed

On March 5, 2025 Microsoft stopped supporting WSA and disabled the Amazon Appstore on Windows. Existing installations kept working, but you could no longer install WSA through the official Microsoft path or download apps from Amazon.

What Still Works

  • Already-installed WSA subsystems still boot and run apps
  • Sideloading APKs via ADB continues to function
  • Community builds (WSABuilds) remain downloadable
  • Play Store patching via MagiskOnWSALocal still works

What Broke

  • The Amazon Appstore on Windows no longer serves apps
  • Microsoft's 'install WSA' button in the Store is gone
  • No further security or compatibility updates from Microsoft
WSA Installer does not rely on Microsoft's store. It downloads community WSA builds and patches Play Store directly, so it works fully after deprecation.

Should You Keep Using WSA?

If WSA meets your needs, there's no rush to leave. The final build (2407.40000.4.0) is stable for most apps. Just keep a backup of your installed WSA and the bundle.wsa for offline reinstalls.
